About

Disc Golfers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problems and help others to enjoy a great game of disc golf.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to shoot a good game. There are no dues or fees for D.G.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. D.G.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to play disc golf and help other addicts achieve par.

Do You Think You Have a Problem?

To answer this question ask yourself these simple questions and answer them as honestly as you can.

Admitting you are an addict may seem today like the end of the line to you, but there are thousands of people in D.G.A. who can testify that acceptance of the incredible suckiness of their game was not an end, but a beginning; the beginning of their recovery and a new, enjoyable and (hopefully) lower-scoring round.

We at the D.G.A. have a simple, workable program. It is a down-to-earth program designed BY and FOR Disc-aholics. If you honestly want birdies above all else and are fully willing to follow this program without qualification, you have written your own guarantee for par (maybe).

THE ONLY REQUIREMENT FOR D.G.A. MEMBERSHIP IS A DESIRE FOR A DECENT SCORE.

This does not mean signing up, or paying a subscription fee. You simply come along to any local course, where you will find people who have been through exactly the same sort of things as you. Get to lots of tournaments. That way you will hear different D.G.A.’s telling their experience. Among them you will find people with whom you can identify closely – people you feel understand YOU.

MAYBE YOU ARE STILL NOT CONVINCED YOU ARE AN ADDICT?

In which case, a few matches may help you to decide. All we ask is that you bring with you an open mind and a good selection of discs

IS D.G.A. FOR YOU?
Only you can decide whether you want to give D.G.A. a try —

We who are in D.G.A. came because we finally gave up trying to control our addiction to Disc Golf. We still hated to admit that our game was the ultimate in suckiness. We found out that many people suffered from the same feelings of listlisness, loneliness and hopelessness that we did when our disc landed in a tree or in the water.. We realized that we had these feelings because we had the disease of Disc Golf Mania. We decided to try and face up to what our abundance of bogies had done to us. Here are some of the questions we tried to answer honestly. If we answered YES to four or more questions, we were in deep trouble with our game. See how you do.

Remember, there is no disgrace in facing up to the fact that your game generally sucks.

1. We admitted we were powerless over the water shot – that our drives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that the perfect disc could restore our scores to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our game over to the care of God as no one else could help us.
4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of our bags to weed out ‘gacked’ discs.
5. Admitted to the TD, to ourselves and to others in our group the exact nature of our unworthiness.
6. Were entirely ready to have TD remove all course obstacles and out of bounds markers.
7. Humbly asked the TD to remove those $^#@ Yellow DiscCatchers.
8. Made a list of all shots we had flubbed, and became willing to take responsibility for those pukey scores.
9. Made direct approaches wherever possible, except when to do so would injure others.
10. Continued to take personal responsibility and when we were OB promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through drink and meditation to improve our knowledge of the course as we understood it, praying only for knowledge of the best lie and the power to carry that hole.
12. Having achieved spatial awareness as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others and practice our drives and putting at every opportunity.

WHY NOT GIVE THE D.G.A PROGRAM A TRY?

We did, and it may not work but it’s fun trying.
